Size & Body Style
The new Subaru Outback is technically a wagon, but it has all the utility of an SUV. Measuring up to 191 inches long, the Outback offers up to 109 cubic feet of passenger volume and 39.5 inches of rear legroom.
The new Subaru Forester is a more conventional compact SUV. It's 183.3 inches long and provides 110.8 cubic feet of passenger space. It also has 39.4 inches of rear legroom.
Fuel Economy
Both the new Subaru Outback and Subaru Forester are fuel-efficient all-wheel drive vehicles. The Forester gets the slight edge, earning 33 mpg on the highway compared to 32 mpg on the highway for the longer Subaru Outback.
Interior & Technology
Both the new Subaru Outback and Subaru Forester come standard with cloth seats, but offer optional synthetic or genuine leather upholstery. They also both come with dual 7-inch touchscreen infotainment systems and 11.6-inch displays are available. The Subaru Outback has five advanced active safety features in its EyeSight® suite, including automatic high-beam headlights. The Subaru Forester has four standard driver assistance features, as automatic high beams are not included in the Base trim.
